When: Saturday, March 7, 2020 (9AM-2PM) Where: International Commons, Saint Michael’s College (Colchester, VT) Who: Required for all currently funded faculty Topic: Mentoring Undergraduate Research Scholars Facilitated by Dr. Veronica Sosa-Gonzalez, Coordinator for the VT EPSCoR Center for Workforce Development and Diversity Dr. Sosa-Gonzalez received her certification on this training from the Entering Mentoring program, and will lead a workshop that is designed to meet the needs of PUI faculty. The goal of this mentor training is to accelerate the process of becoming an effective research mentor by providing mentors with an intellectual framework, an opportunity to experiment with various methods, and a forum in which to solve mentoring dilemmas with the help of their peers. By the end of the training, mentors will have articulated their personal style and philosophy of mentoring and have a toolbox of strategies they can use when faced with difficult mentoring situations.
